Dear Room 114 Families, November 14, 2016,
Thank you to all the parents that made it to report card conferences. If you were unable to make it please contact me to set up a meeting. A HUGE THANK YOU to Ann (Aka Betty’s mom) for the beautiful art project she did with the students. It really brings life to the room and we all love it.
- There is no school next Wednesday-Friday. Please get your child to school on time each and every day
- Today we begin our next five week rotation. Students will have Art Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Sight Words: How, their, if, will, up
Vocabulary: pinecone, spicy, sauce
This week we will read Duck for Turkey Day. We will discuss the author’s purpose for writing the story and the lesson the main character learns. We will begin to focus on character traits. This book is the perfect lead into 2nd quarter theme of family traditions.
The students will continue to work on small moment stories. Students will complete this unit next week. We are focusing on zooming in moments and “show don’t tell”. Instead of saying you are happy tell us what you did to show you are happy.
We will practice using the number line for addition and subtraction. We will also use the number line to check our answers. Students will be introduced to frames and arrows.
SCIENCE/ SOCIAL SCIENCE
In Science we will discuss stars. In Social Science we will begin our unit on family traditions.
Have a great week!
