Dear Room 114 Families, December 19, 2016
This Friday will be Ms. Fullett’s last day in our class. We have all truly enjoyed having her with us. Luckily, she will still be at Ray working with Ms. Chapman. When we return from break Ms. Anjana Nair will be working with our room. The students have met Ms. Nair and are excited to have another friendly face in the room.
Notes and Reminders:
– Please welcome Akihisa Masaki to our class. He comes to Ray from Japan.
-Please make sure your child is dressed in white for Friday’s assembly. Also make sure they are wearing a hat and gloves if they have some.
-Please make sure to dress your child for the cold weather. Per Ray’s handbook we can go outside as long as the wind chill is not below 15. Many students are without gloves and complaining of cold hands.
-We will make gingerbread houses on Thursday, December 22nd at 1:45. We need lots of volunteers for this activity so please considering coming to Ray and joining all the messy fun. Please donate materials by Wednesday.
-Students are now responsible for finishing their Friday letter at home. I will be sending home their Friday letter journals this week. I am asking that all students write at least two entries over the break.
This week we will read a variety of gingerbread books. Students will come up with an action plan to capture a gingerbread friend.
The students will continue with How-To writing. Students will be writing how-to build a gingerbread house.
This week we will continue to solve addition problems with three addends. We will also work on writing number stories.
SCIENCE/ SOCIAL SCIENCE
In Science we will continue to work with sounds. In Social Science we are learning about Hanukkah.
Have a great week!
