Notes and Reminders:
-School Picture Re-Takes are this Friday. If you did not like your child’s picture please return the original. If you missed photo day your child can have their picture taken this Friday.
-We will make gingerbread houses on Thursday, December 22nd at 1:45. We need lots of volunteers for this activity so please considering coming to Ray and joining all the messy fun.
This week we will read Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. We will discuss the author’s purpose for writing the story and the lesson the main character learns. We will continue to discuss character traits. This week we will also discuss cause and effect.
Sight Words: because, was, use, our, said
Vocabulary: mistake, invisible, forgot, cavity, plain, Australia
The students will continue with How-To writing. We will add transition words and supply lists to our writing.
This week we will continue to learn about measurement using non-stand units of measure (pencil, paperclip, toothpick, blocks, and a thumb). We will also begin to work with base-ten blocks.
SCIENCE/ SOCIAL SCIENCE
In Science we will continue a unit on Light and Sound. We still need toilet paper rolls. We will work with vibration forks and hopefully make kazoos. In Social Science we will continue with our family traditions unit. We are reading Thunder Cake and learning about how families have different ways of helping us when we are scared. We are still working on putting together the family traditions book.
