Whoa! Way to go Room 114! Thanks to your family and friends, our class alone reached and exceeded our goal of raising over $1,000, actually raising almost $2,000! We celebrated with a pizza and movie party last Friday. Great work everyone! The walk-a-thon happened while rainy and windy outside so teachers did not get to take many pictures. If any of our parents who attended were able to take pics, please share with me via email.

  • We hope your Flat Stanley is on his adventure! He can be returned to school by mail or in person after Memorial Day weekend.
  • Field Trip on Thursday, 5/25 (bring a bagged lunch)
  • Wear a red shirt and jean pants/shorts/skirt this Thursday, 5/25 for Identical Day!
  • Wear a crazy hat to school this Wednesday, 5/24!
  • Olympics are moved to next week- more info to come!

Students will be doing sorting activities throughout the week in their Daily 5 folders, as well as practicing sight word spellings we have learned this year. We are leaning about –ge and –dge making the ‘j’ sound.

VOCABULARY OF THE WEEK: gooey, pesky, insults, ashamed, rowdy

This week we will read Sandwich Swap by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah. We will be coming back to this text each day as we read and learn something new from it during the week. We will discuss the meanings of the vocabulary words; identify the setting, characters and story parts in the text.

We are publishing our animal poems and creating animal handprint art for display.

We are in Unit 9. It is our last math unit. This unit focuses on two-digit addition and subtraction and a review.

We are recording our observations on our wheat and we are exploring stems in depth. We will begin to look for animals for our classroom terrarium.

We continue to learn about families around the world.
