  • Consider sending in fresh fruits or veggies for class snacks: carrots, grapes, apples, cuties, bananas, etc.
  • Please send your child to school with an empty paper towel roll. We need them for number scrolls.
  • Consider donating to the new Donors Choose I have created. The focus is guided math.  I am trying to update many of our worn out materials as well as replace lost items.

This week we will read The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires. We will identify story elements such as characters, setting, character development and author’s purpose. We will use the book to make predictions and inferences. Students will continue to identify character traits that support a growth mindset and perseverance. We will review antonyms. We will work on the short wh word family. We will also review syllables.

Sight Words: made, over, did, down, only


This week we will conclude How To writing.  Writing samples, along with rubrics, will be sent home at the end of next week.


This week, we will continue with unit 5 in math. We will use pennies and dimes to represent numbers and discuss place value. We will learn about the symbols for greater than, less than, equal to, and use them to compare numbers. We will start number scrolls and talk more about patterns in place value.


In science, we will read “Listen to This” and “Animal Ears and Hearing.” We will discuss volume and pitch. We will read Time for Kids: Wheelchair Racer.
