MATH

This week, we will continue unit 8 in math. This unit focuses more on shapes, including 3-D shapes and exposes students to equal parts (halves and fourths) and the whole. This week we will begin to look at the importance of determining the size of the whole when comparing fractions. We will also discuss names for equal parts. Students will use circles and triangles to make new shapes. Students will also begin to identify attributes of 3-D shapes.

SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE

In science, we will start a new unit on living things. Students will begin to identify what living things need and ways living things can differ, specifically plants and animals. We will continue to read several books about Earth Day, recycling and reducing waste.
