  • Don’t forget to turn in your family timeline project.  They are due on Friday and we will put them together next Monday.
  • Would you like to come in and share a family tradition? Please send me an email if you are interested in sharing artifacts or foods that are unique to your family during the winter season. I would like to schedule families to share at the end of the day (3pm?).
  • Next week we will be making Gingerbread Houses.  This year we are asking families to donate $2 toward materials.  In the past we have asked families to donate the supplies but we figured we can save everyone a trip to the store!  If you would like to join us please be there December 20th at 1:45 in the cafeteria.
  • Next week is spirit week.
    Monday– Ugly/Beautiful Sweater Day
Tuesday– Candy Cane Day, Bring to share with classmates and/or dress like one
Wednesday– Best Green and/or Red Gear
    Thursday– Pajama, Stuff Animal

This week we will read The Thing Lou Couldn’t Do. We will identify story elements such as characters, setting, character development and author’s purpose. We will use the book to make predictions and inferences. Students will continue to identify character traits that support a growth mind set and perseverance.

Sight Words: had, not, but, what, all

This week, we will complete an Open Response prompt that focuses on the right way to measure a marker. Students will have an exploration day that includes building with base 10 blocks, collecting data on a tally chart and displaying on a bar graph and drawing and naming 2-D geometric shapes.

This week we will continue our focus on maps and discuss timelines.  Students turning in their timelines early will begin to put them together and share with the class.  In science we will continue our unit on sound.  Students will make musical instruments.
